In the “Land of Enchantment” boxers are rated in the original eight weight divisions. The five best fighters in the state P4P are Austin Trout, Fidel Maldonado Jr., Josh Torres, Jason Sanchez and Ron Baca. I see fighters from all over the state, with the exception of boxers from Las Cruces. Zach Prieto, Edmond Guzman and Brandon White are all undefeated, and would like the opportunity to display their skills in the “Land of Enchantment.”

 

 

Max Heyman and Mike Alderete added excitement to the big boys in 2018, but I’m not sure their matchup wasn’t just a onetime thing. Rico Urquizo, Maurice Jackson, Bryan McClain and Jordan Gregory would make for good matchups in any order at 175. Jose Luis Sanchez against undefeated Zach Prieto at 160 pounds would sell tickets. Willie Villanueva at mid ring with Matthew Esquibel would answer a lot of questions at 147.

 

 

In the lightweight division Jose Salinas versus Antonio Martinez would energize one boxer’s career. Aaron Perez is a hot prospect, but has to be satisfied fighting in the shadow of Jason Sanchez for now. Sadly at bantamweight, it appears that Augustine Banegas is finished with the sport. There are two undefeated boxers at flyweight, but it will be a long time before Brandon White will be able to face hot prospect Matthew Griego.

 

 

Lets hope new year gives us a fight of the year as exciting as Cristian Cabral vs Josh Torres in 2018!
